At HarpeRoney Consulting, we believe that real transformation begins from the inside out. Co-founded by Charles M. Harper Sr. and Neecy Harper, our firm is rooted in the belief that leadership is not just about strategy—it’s about connection, culture, and courage. With decades of combined experience across education, healthcare, corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors, we bring a distinctive blend of expertise in leadership coaching, DEI strategy, wellness programming, and organizational change management. We integrate both qualitative and quantitative data to assess and strengthen the performance of embedded cultural practices and evaluate the effectiveness of our leadership coaching engagements—ensuring progress is not just perceived, but proven.

Details

Charles M. Harper Sr. is a dynamic leader with a multidimensional career spanning education, state government, Freemasonry, and organizational development. As the Co-Founder of HarpeRoney Consulting, LLC, Charles brings more than two decades of experience helping individuals and institutions transform their culture, elevate their leadership, and foster psychologically safe environments.

A U.S. Navy veteran and former Local 150 Operating Engineer, Charles’ path was reshaped by a life-altering spinal injury in 2009. Since then, he has leaned into his calling to serve through education, consulting, and advocacy. He currently teaches AP Human Geography, U.S. Government, and Economics in Dallas ISD and is recognized for his culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach to instruction.

Before returning to the classroom, Charles held key roles in state and municipal government, including Learning and Development Manager, HR Manager, and DEI Manager, where he led employee engagement, inclusion strategies, and leadership development initiatives. He is a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) and holds a Veterans at Work Certificate, equipping him to serve diverse communities and teams with empathy and expertise.

Charles is a published author of four books, including the widely discussed Freemasonry in Black and White and A Spurious State of Confusion—both of which are housed at the House of the Temple Library in Washington, D.C. His work explores the intersections of culture, identity, race, and ritual within Freemasonry and beyond. His Masonic educational videos have reached over 500,000 viewers in more than 22 countries.

A proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Charles was honored as the inaugural Mental Health Champion for the fraternity and continues to advocate for emotional intelligence, mental health awareness, and destigmatization—especially among Black men. His acclaimed off-Broadway monodrama Black and White: A Man Divided, featuring 7-time Grammy winner Malik Yusef, explores these themes through personal narrative and performance.

Charles is also a lifelong Master Mason and Past Master of Pleiades Lodge No. 478, holding memberships in Masonic bodies across the United States and England, including the Valley of Chicago (NMJ), the Illinois Lodge of Research, Internet Lodge No. 9659 under the United Grand Lodge of England, and more. He is an honorary member of both Eternal Light Lodge No. 156 (Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Illinois) and African Lodge No. 459 (Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Massachusetts).

He holds a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a double major in history and philosophy, and a minor in cultural anthropology. He also earned an MBA in Marketing and has completed significant doctoral-level coursework toward both a PsyD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and a PhD in Business Management and Organizational Leadership. He was inducted into Omega Nu Lambda, the National Honor Society for Online Learners, with a 3.89 GPA at the doctoral level.

Charles combines lived experience with academic insight to help organizations implement systems for equity, belonging, and sustained performance. His leadership coaching, DEI consulting, and culture transformation strategies are driven by both qualitative insights and quantitative impact data, ensuring that progress is measurable, meaningful, and mission-aligned.

Neecy Harper

Neecy Harper is a visionary entrepreneur, empowerment leader, and cultural connector. As the Founder and CEO of Chicks with Kicks, she has built a national women’s empowerment movement rooted in wellness, mental health, and personal growth through running and community-based programming. She is also the CEO of Niche Nest Rentals, a boutique real estate brand offering intentionally curated short-term rental experiences that combine design, comfort, and hospitality.

Neecy is the Founder of the Divine Nine 5K, which began in Chicago and later expanded to Atlanta and Los Angeles. These culturally rich events celebrate unity, health, and heritage within the Black Greek-lettered community and have become symbols of inclusion and empowerment through movement.

Her leadership style is rooted in empathy, creativity, and purpose-driven action. With over 16 years of experience building and leading mission-aligned ventures, Neecy creates inclusive spaces where people are encouraged to thrive.

She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, with a concentration in Preventive and Rehabilitative Exercise Science. Her educational foundation supports her expertise in strategic branding, wellness innovation, and sustainable business growth.

Neecy is also an upcoming author, currently penning her debut book exploring the impact of unhealthy work and relationship environments on mental health—a deeply personal and professional reflection on emotional well-being, burnout, boundaries, and healing. Through her writing, she aims to empower others to reclaim their peace, recognize toxic dynamics, and foster environments that support psychological safety and personal transformation.

A proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Neecy has served in numerous leadership roles within the organization and beyond. Whether mentoring women, designing wellness platforms, or consulting with clients through HarpeRoney Consulting, she leads with grace, vision, and an unwavering belief in the power of people.
